StepCounter

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 12, 2026

This policy covers StepCounter for iPhone, its Home Screen widget, and these support pages. The developer is Goran Sicanica. For privacy questions, email progkotlin@gmail.com.

Your step and activity data stay on your device. StepCounter has no accounts, advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics, and does not send your activity data to the developer.

Motion and activity data

With your Motion & Fitness permission, StepCounter uses Apple Core Motion to read today’s step count and available walking distance. If distance is unavailable, it estimates distance from steps. Calories are estimated from step count. The app does not access HealthKit, GPS location, contacts, photos, or your advertising identifier.

These values are used to display daily activity. You can revoke Motion & Fitness access in iOS Settings. Activity figures are estimates and are not medical measurements.

Local storage and the widget

The app stores your language and saving preferences locally. When “Save daily results” is enabled, it saves daily dates, steps, distance, and estimated calories on your device. A snapshot of the latest saved daily values is shared locally with the StepCounter widget through an Apple App Group. It is not uploaded to a server. Anyone who can see your Home Screen may see widget activity values.

Retention and deletion

Saved history remains until you delete records or remove the app’s data. In History, swipe a record to delete it. Turning off “Save daily results” stops new history and widget snapshot writes but does not erase existing records or the last widget snapshot. Deleting a history row does not clear that snapshot. Today’s record may be created again while saving is enabled.

Fully deleting the app removes its app data; offloading preserves data. Remove the widget as well if you no longer want activity shown on your Home Screen. Device backups may include app data depending on your settings; manage those copies separately. Restoring a backup may restore previous data. The app has no custom cloud synchronization. Apple services are covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We cannot access or retrieve activity stored only on your device.

When you contact support

We receive the email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use this information to answer your request and troubleshoot problems. Email is handled through Gmail. We retain correspondence for as long as needed to resolve the request and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. Please do not send unnecessary personal or health information.

Support website

These pages are hosted by HawkHost. The server may process your IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time to deliver the pages, maintain security, and troubleshoot errors. Log retention depends on hosting settings and provider policies. See HawkHost’s Privacy Policy. These pages add no cookies, analytics, advertising, or external fonts. Hosting and email services may process information outside your country, including the United States.

Your choices and privacy requests

We do not sell personal information or use activity data for advertising. Where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of information we hold, object to processing, or complain to your local data protection authority. Contact progkotlin@gmail.com. For information processed by us, support requests are handled to respond to you, and security logs support our legitimate interest in operating a secure website. Activity access on your device depends on the permission you grant and can revoke.

Children and changes

The app does not ask for age or collect children’s information through accounts or analytics. If a child sends personal information to support, a parent or guardian can contact us about removal. We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision.
