How do I start counting steps?

Open StepCounter, tap “Enable Step Counter,” and allow Motion & Fitness access. Carry your iPhone while walking, then tap “Refresh now” to query today’s activity.

Why are no steps showing?

Check the app’s Diagnostics card for step-counting availability, authorization, and any error. If access is denied, tap “Open App Settings” and allow Motion & Fitness access. You can also check Motion & Fitness in iOS privacy settings. Step counting requires a supported physical device; a simulator does not provide normal pedometer data.

How do I add or refresh the widget?

Enable “Save daily results” in the app and tap “Refresh now.” Touch and hold the iPhone Home Screen, choose Edit and Add Widget (or the + button), search for StepCounter, and add the small or medium widget. The widget displays the latest locally saved snapshot; iOS controls when it refreshes, so values may lag behind the app.

How does history work?

With “Save daily results” enabled, the app saves today’s values when it receives activity updates. It does not automatically fill in every previous day. Tap History to see saved days and swipe a row to delete it. Turn saving off to stop new saves; existing history stays, and the widget may retain its last snapshot. Today’s row can be recreated if saving stays enabled.

Are distance and calories exact?

Distance comes from the device’s pedometer when available; otherwise it is estimated using 0.75 metres per step. Calories are estimated at 0.04 kcal per step. These are general estimates, not personalized medical measurements.

Can I change the language?

Use the language menu at the top of the app to choose English or Deutsch.

Where is my data stored?

Activity history and settings are stored on your device. No account is required. Deleting the app can remove saved history, so avoid reinstalling if you need to keep it. Read the Privacy Policy for storage, deletion, backups, and support email details.
